Of the 246 hunts, 83 are about birds, 36 about the market and 33 about the garden, and the rest are about flowers, the sky, butterflies and trees. Each week's page has a bird or flower from the state's list drawn on it and a box to draw the best find, and 4 season pages carry an explorer badge to color. The cover shows the Mountain Bluebird, Idaho's state bird, and the Syringa, its state flower. Eight activity pages, from a nature map to four journal pages, a note for grown-ups and a Nature Explorer certificate round out the year. It is a full-color paperback, 8.5 by 11 inches, printed to order. The illustrations were made with AI tools, and each was checked against its species' field or botanical marks before printing.
